Life doesn't always follow a straight path, and our pastors are here to walk through the difficult stretches with you. We offer private, one-on-one counseling for anyone facing grief, addiction, family crisis, or a season of uncertainty, grounded in scripture and decades of hands-on ministry experience in Punta Gorda. Every session is confidential and free of charge, open to both residents of our mission and members of the wider community. Whether you need ongoing support or a single conversation to find direction, our pastors are ready to listen without judgment.
Our shelter is open every hour of every day, offering a secure bed and protection from the elements to individuals and families facing homelessness in Punta Gorda and Charlotte County. Unlike facilities that require guests to leave each morning or limit stays to thirty days, we welcome residents to remain with us for as long as they need, with no fixed deadline pushing them back onto the street. Some of our residents have called this mission home for more than twenty years. On-site security and covered living spaces provide a stable, dependable environment where people can focus on healing rather than survival.
Each day at our mission begins with scripture, discussion, and fellowship, led by our resident pastors rather than volunteers passing through. Sessions are open to residents and community members alike, offering a space to reflect, ask questions, and grow in faith together. We hold morning study, weekly scripture reflection, and open group discussions throughout the week, welcoming newcomers and longtime believers with the same open door. There is no cost to attend, and no background or belief system is required to take part.
Beyond our shelter walls, we work to connect Punta Gorda residents with the resources they need to move toward stability, including referrals for housing, healthcare, and employment support. Our outreach efforts also raise public awareness about the realities of homelessness and hunger in our community, while building partnerships with local churches, businesses, and volunteers willing to give their time. From resource referrals to faith-based community events, our outreach work is designed to extend help beyond our doors and strengthen the broader Punta Gorda community as a whole.
No one should go hungry in Punta Gorda, and our kitchen reflects that belief every single day. We serve hot, nutritious meals throughout the day rather than at a single fixed hour, ensuring residents and community members facing food insecurity always have access to a warm plate. Our hot meal service includes daily meals, meal delivery for residents unable to leave their unit, emergency food access during times of crisis, and special holiday meals shared in community. There are no forms to fill out and no requirements to meet, only an open invitation to come eat with us.
Rebuilding a stable life takes more than shelter and food, which is why we offer workshops designed to help residents build practical skills and lasting confidence. Our programs include resume building and interview preparation, goal-setting and life coaching sessions, addiction recovery support groups, and self-esteem building exercises, all led with guidance shaped by decades of direct community experience. These workshops combine faith-based encouragement with hands-on tools, helping individuals move from crisis toward independence at a pace that works for them. There is no cost to participate, only a willingness to take the next step forward.
A secure place to stay with no arbitrary time limit, and the freedom to remain as long as needed.
Meals, shelter, medical assistance, and pastoral support addressed together, not separately.
Guidance toward housing, government aid, and employment, built around each individual’s pace.
Our commitment to those we serve extends well beyond a warm meal and a bed for the night. The Bread of Life Mission is dedicated to helping individuals and families build lasting stability through:
Our goal is not simply to provide immediate relief, but to walk alongside each individual as they move from crisis toward independence and self-sufficiency.
